I have SO much fun making these scrappy maverick stars!

I just couldn't help myself though........

After seeing my friends Dar of Dar's Patchwork Garden, and Teresa of A Quilt and a Prayer making their "Soul Searching" blocks from Kathy Doughty's book "Making Quilts"  I HAD to join the band wagon!

 ANOTHER great way to use up some beautiful, colorful scraps!

So, here is my pink one!

I am using black as my neutral, and I think KNOW I am gonna love it!

Here's my blue one, so I am all caught up now!

 I was honored to be asked by my friend Dar if I would be a "jewel of a friend" and participate in her

string quilt of sorts.  She is in the process of naming this project....go check it out and suggest a name!

Busy times..........

Busy times here in Kevin the Quilterland!

I am LOVING the responses I am getting from the questions I have posed to you all!  Have you all read them?  Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!

I will just put this out here first...........

LAST QUESTION(S):
Which questions would you have for a guy that quilts?  Which questions do you have about Quilts of Valor?

Think about it and throw them at me!  I want to know what you would like to know?

In other news, if you are a regular reader, you know February is a BIG BIRTHDAY month around here!

My mother and nephew share the same birthday!

How cool is that for them?

They also share it with my mom's twin brother (funny how that works), a cousin, and news to me this year, another cousin!  Happy Birthday to all!

And, let's face the facts.  If a 10 year old boy has to wait a little while on his uncle to open his birthday presents, chances are, this could cause said boy a little frustration!

It was worth the wait though!

In order for me to be able to attend the birthday party though, I had to skip out on the St. Louis Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge reveal.  Unfortunately a friend who was going to take my quilt to be shown fell ill, and was unable to attend.  So, I am going to share my little quilt here with you all!

I really love the way the quilting became wonky organic!

Actually, I do like the folk art feel to it?  It feels and looks modern to me?  Your thoughts?

Quilting this quilt only vaulted the idea that I want a long arm quilting machine that much more!

I added the scrappy binding, and love the effect of it!

This quilt will be added to my repertoire!

While visiting my family for Birthdaypalooza........

more Kaffe fabrics were added to my growing collection courtesy of a gift certificate I received from Santa!

After visiting The Golden Needle I was also able to visit my friend Donna!  We had a "working" lunch concerning my upcoming presentation this summer after we stimulated the economy at The Golden Needle!  My momma was able to join us as well!  We had such a nice visit!

When I do something like this upcoming presentation, I want to do it right, and I certainly don't want to embarrass myself.  I gained some valuable information from Donna, and we tossed ideas around concerning the speaking engagement.  I am more excited than ever, and have some events coming up on my blog that I hope you all will participate in?

This quilt idea was tested and turned out better than I ever expected!  I can't WAIT to share the tutorial of this one with you all thanks to the help of my friend Bev!

Bev and I are also in the middle of a collaborative effort.  I got these 20 stars finished as my part!

And thanks to my friends Vernie and Jackie for these DELICIOUS scraps!

The Superbowl...........of quilts...........

Hello all!

I have to take a minute here to tell you all how much I appreciate your feedback from my last two questions!  I never dreamed I would get such an outpouring of responses!  I have loved reading each and every one of your replies!  Please help me by continuing to answer my questions.......just a few more........so I can make the best presentation possible!

It's Superbowl Sunday, and it's also Bonnie's Celtic Solstice Mystery Link-Up Finale' !  You know, I do consider Bonnie's designs to be the Superbowl of quilt making!  There is always a lot of action going on in her designs.  Many passes at the machine chain piecing the various units.  Several touchdowns of the iron! Time outs for some snacks in between units.  And usually there is a fast and furious ending!  Bonnie certainly didn't disappoint this year with Celtic Solstice!

So, here is this weeks question.....and I want you to really think about it,and I would LOVE a huge response to this one........PLEASE help me?

Do you personally know a MAN that quilts?  (Aside from me! LOL)  If so, what do you think is the main difference between your quilt making and his?

And, if you ARE a man that quilts, (and I know I have some guys that follow here) how do you think your quilt making differs from a woman? 

The presentation I am preparing for is really going to focus on this aspect of "guys that quilt."

In other news..........

I have been stimulating the economy here lately with my friends!  OK Ann, you win for stimulating the economy the most! LOL  However, when I received the newsletter from Homestead Hearth about their big Superbowl Sale........I HAD to go snoop and see what that was all about?!?!?!?  When a place like this knows you by name, ummmmm, yeah, I am gonna give them some business! LOL

 Fabric for $3 a yard if you emptied the bolt......backings anyone?????

 I have been bitten by the Kaffe Fasset bug!  I am in the midst of collecting the fabrics now!

Some of these Kaffe fabrics came from a WONDERFUL new fabric shop that opened in my area.

And, last, but, not least, a recipe for you all!  I am making these for a Superbowl watch party tonight!

Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Cookies (These are more like rolls I think?)

Ingredients:

1 can seamless crescent rolls

1 8 oz package cream cheese (room temperature)

1/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Mix sugar, cream cheese and vanilla until smooth and creamy

Unroll crescent roll sheet, stretch dough out slightly, but, keep rectangle shape

Spread cream cheese mixture over the top of the crescent sheet, leaving a 1/2 inch edge all around

Sprinkle mini chocolate chips all over cream cheese mixture

Roll crescent sheet with mixture inside tightly, and wrap with cling wrap

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

When chilled, preheat oven to 350*

Line cookie sheet with parchment paper

Slice crescent roll into 1/4 inch slices (How convenient for a quilter!) and place 1 inch apart

Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown

Enjoy!
