I did, however, win recently! Kelli at Seriously..I think it needs stitches. held a spectacular blog give away recently. I love reading her blog because she is so down to earth, she's a great mom, and she makes some pretty awesome things! Seriously, check her out!
I won this cool 2WENTY-THR3E jelly roll courtesy of Kelli and the Fat Quarter Shop!
I can't wait to use it in a project!
Thanks for hosting such an awesome give away Kelli!
In sewing news, I was asked by one of my awesome neighbors if I would be interested in doing some sewing for her. I was curious as to what she had in mind when she said her sons were involved with Kuk Sool Won I said "Coo-Coo for Cocoa Puffs, WHAT?!?!?!?"
According to their website, "Kuk Sool Won is the most comprehensive martial arts system, emphasizing etiquette and education first!" Cool! Her boys needed some patches sewn onto their gis as they work up the belt ladder. SURE! I can do that!
I feel A LOT safer knowing these boys are protecting the neighborhood!
A simple applique stitch with invisible thread was used.
Move over Karate Kid! Kuk Sool Won Kids are in da HOUSE!
Any guesses as to what these might be turning into?
And last, but, not least! I HAVE to show you all ............................
Miss Bev, and Murna all decked out in their lacy Easter Bonnets!
These crocheted doilies are courtesy of my blogging friend Loretta at 365 Days and Other Ramblings. These gals feel SO SPECIAL now thanks to your talents Loretta! Loretta has recently remodeled her sewing studio, so go over and check out her blog and her new space!
Happy Easter!
Thanks for all of the encouragement!
Kevin the Quilter
I'm so glad you won! :) I know you'll put those strips to good use on the road with Bev. The girls looks so cute in their Sunday best, too. Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.. bwahahaa.. I say that all the time, and cracked up when I read that. You're hilarious!! Glad to have found you in blog land!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you, too! Congrats on winning the jelly roll! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like neighborhood security is taken care of! :)
Enjoy the doilies! They look great on Miss Bev and Murna!
Kevin,,,your blog is too much fun to read! So sweet of you to sew patches for the neighborhood watch team...I am all patched out after hubby's 20 years of Army service and 2 Girl Scouts, yuck! Guessing you may be working on BH's Lazy Sunday? I'm beginning mine right after Easter! Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Kevin!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the roll win-always nice to have a stash that you didn't have to spend $ on.
I kinda think you are doing Lazy Sunday too- I have to keep mine under wraps; I took the "mystery class" from Bonnie and started it then. Not sure how the clues are set out in the magazine, so I have to wait until it finishes or I'll spoil it. No fun!
The machines look great in their Easter Sunday best.
Have a great week!
Happy Easter Kevin! I hope you have a lovely one, even if it won't be like the ones you remember as a boy. I sure do wish for those times often! My family is so scattered that it is hard to get together anymore except for Thanksgiving. No kids to hide easter eggs for... bummer!!! But we do have Jesus and that's priceless :*D
ReplyDeleteFirst it's patches, next thing you know some other neighbor is going to need a prom dress hemmed. ;) Just kidding, but I bet those kids and their mom are so glad for your help! No clue on the HSTs. Love the "bonnets." Happy Easter to you too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kevin, just popped in to say what an interesting blog you have and I LOVE your quilting, it's gorgeous!!

Winning stuff is fun, just for the "winning" of it. True confession: when we have "lawn parties" (that's what little local fund raising events with small rides and carnival games are called in this neck of the woods)....anyway, you can find me at the bingo tent.
ReplyDeleteAren't you sweet - just don't tell anyone else you do something besides quilt LOL!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm those pieces are going to be..... a star?
Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Congrats on the goodies. Love the neighbor boys, they look all ready to defend the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you've got a great neighborhood watch system! I have no idea what all those half-square triangles are going to become. Can we get a clue? Thanks for sharing the Sandi Patty video...I haven't heard that song in ages.
ReplyDeleteOkay - the girls decked out in their Easter Bonnets - seriously made me laugh out loud.... I mean really did!!! I cannot wait to see what you are doing with those half-square triangles... I just did a slew of them for an Arizona State Block...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh... I needed it!
A lovely newsy blog post! Congratulations on your win - great stuff. Jelly rolls are so handy. The boys look great in their doboks(?sp). HST's? I have no idea! Glad you had a lovely Easter. We did too - lots of family time and chocolate. sooooo much chocolate :-D
ReplyDeleteLove the way the machines look. It tickled my funny bone! I think your hsts are for ... making churn dash blocks! Or maybe the border on a quilt.
ReplyDeleteKevin, another stellar post. Just one note though: Sandi's good, but I can sing higher ;)
