Happy 4th of July..........

I wanted to let everyone know my sister and I were able to throw a WONDERFUL Golden Wedding Anniversary reception for our AMAZINGLY, AMAZING PARENTS!

My handsome dad and beautiful mother on their wedding day!

And here they are today!
I am SO VERY proud of them!

The whole Hee-Haw gang!
(Yes, that's mom and dad's original cake topper!)

Mom and Dad's wedding party.
(Aunt Doris was the photographer, Aunt Flossie Sue was the maid of honor, Mom and Dad, and Uncle Bobby, the man responsible for introducing the couple to each other, was the best man.)

Unfortunately,I pulled my back out a week before the festivities!  It happens, and I am usually out of commission for a few days, but, it hung around and hung around this time!  After several chiropractic treatments, I was able to participate and finish  "Golden Rings", my gift to mom and dad.  I am going to be sharing some photographs of the amazing quilting my friend Ann of Attic Threads did on the quilt as soon as I can get back to my parents home and take them.

But first,......

This week, I will be travelling to South Carolina to judge the Miss South Carolina Outstanding Teen Pageant.  It is the official state preliminary to Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant.  I usually enjoy a good road trip every now and then, and I will be driving there.  That way, I can stop when and where I want to!  I am sure I will be making many stops along the way to stretch my back out!  Surely some antique malls have my name on them waiting for me to browse through them?  And, no doubt, a quilt shop or two, or three, or.......well, you get the idea!

Happy Birthday to the United States of America!
Thanks for all of the encouragement!

  4. Kevin, What a wonderful anniversary party for your parents. They are a young looking couple for having been married 50 years. Congratulations to them and to your family for being their for them. I am looking forward to seeing your quilt and Ann's qulting. Have a safe trip and have fun stopping at quilt shops along the route. That sounds like a lot of fun.

  5. What sweet pics of your parents!! And how cool that you made them a quilt and threw them a party! Love it! What a fun road trip, too. How does one get called on to be a judge anyway? I'm sure you will rock the judge's seat, and find a few cool shops along the way. When we were at my parents in June.. well we met them at my bro's in Nashville and then made the road trip with them to Joplin, and it was cool.. long, of course, but fun. Can't wait to read all about your trip, and to see pics of the quilt! And your retail therapy score. :) Safe travels!!!

  9. Wow! What a lovely quilt you made them. My parents reached 49.5 years before my father died. A great accomplishment to reach that 50 mark and keep on going.
