Stitch-N-Time QOV Presentations......

I was honored to be asked by the Stitch-N-Time Quilt Guild in Warrenton, Missouri to present some Quilts of Valor to some very deserving veterans this past week.  I will continue to say thank you to ALL who participated in the QOV block drive last year.  I never tire of presenting these QOVs!

All of these quilts are under the careful guidance of Quilts of Valor, Eastern Missouri, and it was great having our faithful leaders Jean and Linda there for the presentations!

Photos say so much more than I ever could, and thanks to my friend Marcia for taking some photos and video of the presentations, I can share them with you all!

A very happy WWII Veteran after receiving his QOV!
And, quite the lady's man I might add!
After the presentations, I was barely able to get to speak to him
through the mob of women around him!
Thanks Kim for quilting and binding this beautiful QOV!

A female WWII Veteran and her WWII Veteran husband.
This couple was so kind and so very thankful.
The husband had received his QOV last year, and now it was her turn!
I love her original military cap she wore!
Thanks Vernie for piecing, quilting, and binding this beautiful QOV!

A Viet Nam Veteran and his wife.
This vet spoke of how he always wanted to be a Marine and how
he would do it all over again for his country.
Thanks Kim for quilting and binding this beautiful QOV!

My friend Ann of  Attic Threads & Quilts
made these two very special quilts for two very special veterans in her life.
It was great having so many female veterans to award QOVs to this time!
Thanks Ann for taking the initiative to make QOVs for the veterans in your life!
Thanks Ann for piecing, quilting, and binding these beautiful QOVs!

Thanks to Joanie for sewing all of the labels down!

Thanks Stitch-N-Time Quilt Guild for this wonderful opportunity!

It was a wonderful QOV presentation, and I don't think I could sum things up any better than our WWII "Lady's Man" Veteran did...........

Press the "play" icon to hear his speech.

I was also able to give my quilt lecture about my quilting story as a guy that gives scrappy quilts.  It is always a pleasure to share my passion with others.  I was also able to see a wonderful array of miniature quilts at the Stitch-N-Time quilt guild.  The president's challenge was to make miniature quilts.

Many of the quilters participated.
These were ALL wonderful!!!!

Congrats to my friend Lou (on left) for winning first prize with her tiny miniature!
Ann took second, and I apologize for not knowing the name of the 3rd place quilter's name.

In other news......

Lil' Bubs hunted Easter eggs all day after church last Sunday.
We gathered at my sister's home where she hosted Easter dinner.

Dad on left, Uncle Royce on right.
My dad's brother was able to join us this year.
Sis prepared a great dinner of Mostaccioli and Lasagna.
I prepared a layer salad, and Momma made her Cherry Streudle at my request!

Spring is alive and well in Missouri!
Here is God's promise to never flood the entire earth again.
We have had severe thunderstorms move through the past 3 days.
It's a part of life around these parts.
Prayers for those who have suffered damage or loss.
Thankfully, we escaped the worst of the weather thus far.

Paducah is 2 weeks away!
Hope to see you there!
Thanks for all of the encouragement!
Kevin the Quilter

  4. Every time you present QOV quilts, showing pictures of the grateful veterans, I cry. Well, this time it was worse - my dad is 93 and a veteran of WWII, so the older gentleman reminds me of him. I need to make my dad a QOV now...maybe have it ready for his 94th birthday in June!!! All that while I am making a quilt for a new grandson due to be born the end of this month and get another daughter moved from Washington to Hawaii!!! Maybe I need to take you up on your offer!!!

  6. Great pictures of the veterans who received their QOVs. I'm sorry to have missed the meeting. Your beautiful rainbow sky is definitely a reminder of our Missouri weather this time of year. I hope you are right about God's promise not to flood the whole world again. This week I wasn't so sure that was true around our house. lol

  7. I LOVE the QOV pictures. Amazing photos. I was originally drawn to your blog because of the QOV program you are so involved in. So what's keeping me from participating??? Be safe, Kevin.
