En Provence Clue #4

Seasons Greetings from the Quilt Cave!

I hope you all are staying warm if your weather is cold!

Most importantly, I hope you are staying safe while making outings!

I hope EVERYONE is quilting no matter where you are in the world!

En Provence Clue #4
For the dark purples I have chosen to do navy.

Keep these easy clues coming Bonnie!

More tri-recs units for this weeks clue.

80 to be exact!

I have found En Provence
extra enjoyable due to the ease of the clues thus far.
Of course, I always challenge myself to stay on top of
the clues.  It's just a personal challenge to myself.
I know, I know, it isn't a race, and trust me,
I am enjoying myself!

You can find all of the clues, and everything you need to know about this mystery quilt

To check out my QOV quilting buddy's progress,
check out my patriotic mystery link up with

Also linking up with Bonnie's

It's so much fun seeing what quilters from all over the globe
are doing with this mystery quilt!

My area was recently gifted with a surprise black ice storm!
I was out Christmas shopping, and was only 25 minutes
in normal traffic and road conditions from my home.
It took me 2.5 hours to get home!
Thank God, I was safe.
On a funny note, while stuck in traffic, I was next to
a semi, and I could see he was talking on his radio.
I waved him to roll his window down to see if
he had any info on the road conditions ahead.
He looked REALLY familiar!
Come to find out, I had graduated high school with him!
I hadn't seen him in 25 years!
FUN!

When Bonnie posted THIS blog post the other day.....
I HAD to laugh!
I have been going through my red scraps all week
enhancing my 2.5" strip bin that was empty of
reds from making Ann's mystery!
We scrap quilters are truly cut from the same fabric!

In other news..........

This little stinker found her Christmas present!
LOLOLOLOLOL
My Sophia Annabella!
She wanted to open it, but, I told her
she has to be a good girl until Christmas morning!

I truly hope you are finding peace this Christmas season.
I know I am!

Merry Christmas to all!
Thanks for all of the encouragement!
Kevin the Quilter

  1. Great minds think alike. I just posted my Monday Morning Link-Up and then checked the blog to make sure it posted okay. You were right before me!
Your house looks so Christmasy. I don't put up a tree or otherwise decorate anymore. Hubby not interested and it seems like a lot of work for just little ole me. So I decorate vicariously in my head by looking at the photos of others' preparations.
I am glad common sense took over Saturday. I was getting ready to head up to Janie Lou but decided against it as it was drizzling and the temperature was just below freezing. I made a run to the quilt store yesterday instead.
    Merry Christmas!

  2. And we are all thankful that you made it home safely too! What a hoot though that you ran into a high school friend. Funny how things work. And, I am thankful that your little stinker found her Christmas gift because it gave us another shot of that beautiful tree and Nativity hearth. And for the record, I don't dare put my grand dog gifts under the tree until Christmas morning. How do they know??? Good job with the mystery units. Hope you have a very Merry and quilt filled Christmas!

  3. I'm so glad you were safe in that ice storm, but how fun you met up with a high school friend! So cool to catch up, isn't it? Love the doggie photos, keep them coming too. Your room is full of Christmas cheer and looks so inviting! :)

  4. I bet the two of you classmates had a good laugh wondering what the odds were that your lives would intersect so spontaneously! Glad you made it home safely and presume your chum did too.

Loving your En Provence blocks and your Christmas cheer! Thank you!

  5. If I did Bonnie's mystery I would have to keep up. But since I know I can't, I don't even try. But I love seeing your neat stacks of finished units. I will pretend they are mine and I will feel good. *LOL*
What a painful trip home. Too bad you didn't have some hand stitching with you. But that is so funny that you met up with an old classmate!
Love seeing another glimpse of your cozy, Christmasy Quilt Cave!! : )

  11. Kevin, That's a great story that you met up with an old high school buddy. Can't say that the traffic jam looked like fun otherwise!!
And your progress on Bonnie's mystery is very impressive!! The pieces look absolutely perfect (and I know you aren't using the accuquilt for them...yet!!).
Your darling dog?? I love all the presents on the floor but did you put doggie treats in her gift? That's a tease!
Be safe and enjoy the holiday. I will bet you are having your beautiful family over at Christmas to enjoy that fabulous furniture and glass!! (and some family love!!). Have a good one!

  12. What a funny surprise that the trucker was someone you knew! Is your dog a Boston Terrier? We've had two. The are such loveable friends. Happy sewing.

  14. Watch out for that black ice. We got some snow, but, no ice, thank goodness. Looking forward to a high of 35 later this week. Toasty weather!

  17. Black ice storm was right! I ended up in a hotel Friday night. The poor furbabies were so happy to me on Saturday!

  18. That ice storm sounded scary! It is amazing how something so incredibly beautiful can be so dangerous. Glad everyone was kept safe - and how cool to meet an old friend!!! Looks like you have enough reds to get you through the next several projects :*). I'm holding myself accountable to keep up with the clues also. Of course, I'm cheating a little by only doing half the units, but still... Just sayin'... I think your colors are going to be pretty amazing! And tell Sophia Arabella that she is the reason Rocky's present is not going under the tree until Christmas morning! Super smart furry friends make it pretty hard to hide anything that is either fun to play with or delicious to eat LOL!!!!

  19. Your quilt is going to be so gorgeous!! Your beautifully decorated home inspired me to actually decorate my dad's house this year. He probably hasn't had any Christmas decorations up for the past 10 years - mom wasn't up to decorating before she died 5 years ago and he isn't physically able to do it. Since this will probably be his last Christmas, I was inspired to decorate with everything Christmas I could find! Thank you, friend!!! May you be blessed with family, love and laughter this Christmas.

  20. Its looking a lot like Christmas :) Your quilt colours are lovely and its good when we can stay on track. Six degrees of separation, it is a small world and I always believe that things happen for a reason :) Enjoy the lead up to Christmas and lots of sewing :)

  21. I couldn't imagine that trip taking 2.5 hours. How funny to catch up with a school mate... love your colours and can't wait to see how yours turns out. Like you doing quilts of valour I do Aussie Hero Quilts for our troops on deployment. This quilt though will be put away for a dear friends sons wedding present.... nothing like being ahead of time. They have been dating for 5 years now so hopefully we will be getting other news soon... keep up the good sewing...

  22. I've caught up on your last 4 posts with lots of photo's for me to drool over. I'm loving your Provence colour choices and how your pieces are coming together. I've finally finished sewing all gifts that needed to be posted and just got some small things to sew now. My few decorations will be going up in a couple of days (I'm always late and then leave them up to the middle of January haha). Your tree looks magical and your fireplace decor looks beautiful - very cozy. Has Gracie Lu finally opened her present? :) Merry Christmas to you and all your family, not forgetting your chickens, cluck cluck!!!
