AQS in Paducah.......

AQS in Paducah.......
It's hard to believe it was already a week ago!
I had so much fun visiting family in Kentucky, and going to the show with my cousin Phyllis!
I am taking this week off from the QOV Block Drive to share with you some of the goodies, old and new, I was able to see while in Paducah!

While my dad and cousin discussed antique cars.........
And, my Momma toured the Amish with another cousin........

I went to browse some antique malls and saw some of these beauties!
Enjoy the antique quilt show and tell me which is your favorite?

I LOVE THIS QUILT!  This is my favorite!
It looks so modern, yet it is very vintage!
Any clues as to the name of this layout?  It appears to be some "Drukard's Path" blocks to me?

I was able to take my cousin Phyllis to Eleanor Burns' "E" Quilt Show!
We had a blast, and I think I have converted my cousin into a quilter!

And, here come the show quilts!  Granted, these are just some of my favorites!
There is a large variety of quilts from modern to traditional!
Have you ever entered one of your works in a show?
I'm curious.........
What are some good reasons, and not so good reasons to enter your quilt in a show?

My friend Ann's quilt, "All My Rowdy Friends", received an Honorable Mention!

This is one of my personal favorites!  I LOVE the colors and those eyelashes!

Well, what did you think of the show?  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed sharing it and seeing the quilts with you!  I will be back next week to share with you more blocks received from the drive, as well as information about our wonderful sponsors for the prizes of the drive! (My apologies if you sent in blocks this week, you will definitely be included in next week's post!)

Thanks for all of the encouragement!
Keep on a quiltin'!
Kevin the Quilter

  1. The antique drunkards path is a unique setting. I have seen it done this way once before but the centers were a dark, but I love how this one is set with the lites. Yes, very 'visionary' for that time period. Thank you for sharing all the eye candy.

  2. Wow! My favourite ? I really can't pick just one...but I am partial to 'Time Flies' and '1000 Pyramids'. All of the quits with the swirling designs and brilliant colours were also so amazing. I just had to enlarge each photo on the screen because the quilting on many of these was SO detailed and intricate. Just fabulous . Thanks for sharing.

  3. This post is quite the tour de force with so many wonderful photos. Two quilts I recognize as I know the makers. Your last photo was made by Cynthia Felts of Rolla. Dolores Keaton made the large rendition of a George Siciliano miniature. Dolores is giving a trunk show at our guild on Friday evening.

  4. Love them all! The one antique quilt that had me going ahhhhh was the Dresden plate with the orange background. I love the way that it pops. Thanks for the virtual tour!

  5. GREAT pictures, Kevin! Thanks for the virtual quilt show. Holy cow, there are some amazing quilts! As for the vintage quilts, you had me with the first one, my favorite! Don't you want to try making that block? I sure do! My second favorites of the vintage group are the dresdens and the churn dash quilts. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Wow! All I can say is Beautiful! My favorite was the first one in orange and the new quilts, well the mountain and trees would be my very best! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Fun antique quilts and gorgeous Paducah quilts. I'm always so inspired by the creativity of others. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Every one ov them is over the moon gorgeous! The 6th one 'Sunflower Spirit' (I believe) is very inspiring to me. Your friends' is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

  9. Not sure I could pick a favorite antique quilt. I love them all. Just think of all the hands that put them together. Thank you so much for sharing the quilt show. I would love to be able to go to the Paducah quilt show. So glad you had so much fun with your cousin.

  10. Looks like a great show and I how cool--hanging with Eleanor Burns! One of my very first quilts was her basket wallhanging! She seriously has GREAT directions, right up there with Bonnie!
